THE SHADOE STEVENS KROQs

In early 1973, after SHADOE STEVENS left KRLA, he soon would be jumping over to KROQ-FM which had taken over the 106.7 frequency from the legendary KPPC, which simulcast during most dayparts with AM sister station KROQ-AM at 1500.
Stevens called the two stations "The Roqs Of Los Angeles."

The FM transmitter was on Flint Peak in Glendale (east of the "2" freeway) and the AM tower site was on Verdugo Peak, also in Glendale (west of the "2" freeway.)

Stevens was involved in the programming of the two stations...the FM he affectionately called "Mother Roq."
